Mandatory Reporting: As of January 1, 2024, companies must report beneficial ownership information to FinCEN. However, due to ongoing litigation, there's currently a nationwide preliminary injunction preventing enforcement of this requirement.

Ongoing Compliance: Reporting companies must file updates, annual reports, and respond to any alerts or filings.

Supreme Court Involvement: The U.S. Supreme Court is currently considering an appeal from the Department of Justice to lift the injunction and enforce the reporting requirements.
Impact on Texas and Louisiana:

Texas: The Texas Top Cop Shop, Inc. v. Garland case resulted in a nationwide preliminary injunction, which means reporting companies in Texas are not currently required to file BOIRs.

Louisiana: Similar to Texas, Louisiana companies are also under the same injunction and are not required to file BOIRs at this time.
